NJCA has been invited to participate in the Tourism Task Force of the Jamaica 2030 National Development Plan being prepared by the PIOJ. Since development decision-making is almost entirely independent of any of our national, regional, sectoral, parish or local plans, and completely divorced from any influence of international environmental treaties or codes to which Jamaica is a signatory, this effort seems destined to add to the burden suffered by the groaning shelves in the offices of our Government.
Nevertheless, I will be trying to contribute what I can to the process, and to this end, will be glad to have the input of anyone concerned enough to contribute their views on Jamaica’s Tourism industry and where it should be going. Please feel free to record your thoughts here. Thanks.

Hi Wendy glad to know you will have some input here
I think we need to be serious with “eco tourisim” we play with it as a catch phrase…
i also think that an emphasis needs to be placed on making the resorts more local friendly…
if USA is in a recession we need to focus on our local visitors…
all hotels and tourist entities should try to have an environmental awareness area offering info on our endemics and projects.
i so agree with “Tourism Task Force of the Jamaica 2030 National Development Plan being prepared by the PIOJ. i hope you will keep us posted as things develop
